This event will start off with foreword by Sandeep Dhareshwar (Lehigh Valley Region Coordinator).   

Professional Speaker Session: (6.30 – 7.30 PM)

            Topic   : Program Management – Delivering benefits and transformation

            Topic Summary : Programs are more than complex undertakings or a collection of related projects.  Programs deliver enabling capabilities through projects and transition the outputs of those projects into an organization or market where outcomes are improved and benefits are realized.  Through programs we see the value contribution of project management.  Two standards that discuss the management of programs in the commercial world are PMI Standard for Program Management and the UK methodology Managing Successful Programme’s.  This presentation will discuss the context of these standards as well as advanced techniques in project that control that can be used to optimize the value realized by programs – the program business case.

                 Speaker Profile           :  Joe Sopko, PMP, MSP, P3O is an independent organizational  project management improvement consultant and a joint recipient of  the 2013 Shingo Prize Research Award as a contributing author to The Guide to Lean Enablers for Managing Engineering Programs.

For the past twelve years, Joe has had considerable involvement in organizational project management maturity, PMO development, program management and business improvement initiatives.  He has been an active participant and core team member in the development, review and practical application of PMI’s OPM3® Standard, AXELOS Managing Successful Programmes (MSP), PMI Standard for Organizational Project Management and is a former member of the ISO US Technical Advisory Group for Project, Programme and Portfolio Standards (ISO/TC258).  Joe has also authored several papers regarding the practical use of program management and multiple maturity model approaches as an enablers for PMO development, value delivery and in improving organizational project business excellence. 



As always we look forward to an informative and entertaining PDU-category session. As with most Lehigh Valley Branch PMI events, there is no cost to attend this event, it is open to non-PMI members and PMI members alike, and complimentary snacks/non-alcoholic drinks are included at no charge courtesy of PMI. Attendees will also receive 1 PDU code.
