Introduction to Agile Project Management, Scrum and Kanban Frameworks
Wednesday, August 1, 2018
5:30 to 6:00 – Meet, Greet & Dinner 6:00 to 7:30 – Education Session
Plan on joining your PMI Keystone Chapter colleagues as we continue professional development educational series. This month we are featuring an informative and entertaining session presented by Bob Roadcap and Philip Sedhom, who will be focusing on improving our Technical Agile skills.
Agile project management is an iterative approach to managing projects that focuses on continuous releases and incorporating customer feedback with every iteration. Traditional agile project management can be categorized into two frameworks: scrum and kanban. While scrum is focused on fixed-length project iterations, kanban is focused on continuous releases. Upon completion, the team immediately moves on to the next.
Scrum is an agile way to manage a project, usually software development. Agile software development with Scrum is often perceived as a methodology; but rather than viewing Scrum as methodology, think of it as a framework for managing a process.
Kanban is a popular framework used to implement agile software development. It requires real-time communication of capacity and full transparency of work. Work items are represented visually on a kanban board, allowing team members to see the state of every piece of work at any time.
