Senior Project Manager(s)

PMLG has several contract positions for experienced senior project managers in the central NJ area. If you have 10+ years of strong and successful projects and programs and are someone that can lead a team of matrixed stakeholders, build relationships, work with and manage vendors, and communicate confidently with all levels of team members, including senior leadership, we want to talk to you! Travel expense reimbursement, if not local, is available. Commitments range from short-term (90 days) through, at this time, the balance of 2019 with possible/probable extensions. 

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager:

  • Initiate, plan and execute projects across a variety of business units, functions and complexities. 

  • Provide team leadership and successfully work with stakeholders in a matrix management organization to develop the charter, define scope, develop work breakdowns, schedules, resource plans, budgets, communication plans and other project artifacts in alignment with the established Project Management methodologies and best practices.

  • Manage project issues and risks and report project health to stakeholders at all levels in the organization. Escalates issues when appropriate. Ability to recognize conflict and apply strategies to overcome it. Thinking in opportunities instead of barriers. Ability to negotiate win-win agreements.

  • Identify the best approach to be used on a given project and manage the system and/or process development processes accordingly. 

  • Facilitates the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.

  • Develops and accurately maintains a detailed project schedule using MS Project and scheduling best practices. 

  • Runs regularly scheduled core team meetings, providing transparency around project progress (schedule, budget, resources and scope). Sets agenda and documents meeting outcomes. Must have ability to identify key issues and potential challenges and proactively facilitate scenario planning to identify the best choice among alternatives. Ability to influence timely decisions and to take action reflective of business objectives.

  • Proactively provide coaching and mentoring to individuals and teams to help them grow and to drive best practices, continuous process improvement and customer satisfaction.

  • Provide input and participate in the hiring process as requested.

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties / vendors for the flawless execution of projects.

  • Successfully manage the relationship with the client(s) and all stakeholders. Builds excellent working relationships with team members, external project resources, third party vendors, sponsors and executive management.

  • Manage changes to the project scope, schedule and/or budget using appropriate verification and control techniques.

  • Facilitates organizational readiness discussions, planning and execution of said plans.

  • Ensures that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.

  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.

  • Verify that any validation requirements are recognized and addressed.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including any validation related documentation. 

  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.


  • 10+ years of solid experience in project/program management in the information technology sector, preferably in the pharma, medical device or manufacturing space or a similar regulated market such as health care or banking.

  • Completion of a 4-year college degree in computer science, engineering or similar field, or equivalent experience. 

  • Commercial awareness of pharma market regulated commercial operations, FDA regulated companies and the documentation/validation aspects helpful. 

  • Team work and diplomacy; the ability to defuse tension in the team, function as the negotiator to resolve opposing solution viewpoints.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team required. 

  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in MS Project or similar project scheduling software (ability to learn MS Project).

  • Experience in developing and managing resource plans and budgets required.

  • Ability to travel between sites required.

  • Ability to work with diverse staff and participants required.
