TOPIC: Lessons Learned Without the Blame Game: A Project Management Perspective
PRESENTATION SUMMARY:

PRESENTER: Adeniyi Adebayo MS, PMP, P.Eng
Adeniyi Adebayo holds a master’s degree in Petroleum & Gas Engineering and a bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering. He works as a Project Manager at ATCO Electric, a utility company that provides safe and reliable power across most of Alberta’s grid. With over 10 years of leadership experience in capital programs, he has overseen transmission upgrades, grid resilience projects, and large-scale oil and gas projects both upstream and downstream. Previously, Adeniyi spent nine years at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, advancing from process engineer to project manager while improving refinery processes and field facilities.
At ATCO Electric, Adeniyi manages a portfolio focused on transmission capital and maintenance, overseeing approximately 106,000 km of high-voltage lines and numerous substations. He employs risk-based asset health programs to ensure Alberta’s grid remains reliable and cost-effective. Additionally, Adeniyi contributes to the global engineering community by volunteering as a peer reviewer for multiple journals, providing unbiased, evidence-based feedback that promotes research integrity and fosters innovation.
Adeniyl holds the following credentials:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng), The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
- Master's Degree in Petroleum and Gas Engineering - University of Port Harcourt
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering - University of Maiduguri
