Creating High-Performing Teams that Deliver Great Products
Topic : Carlisle Branch PMI Meeting - Creating high-performing teams that deliver great products
Overview:
Agile focuses on building self-managing cross-functional teams for a very good reason. These kinds of teams operate in a state of high-performance that allows them to achieve greater results, instill quality, encourage innovation, and an awesome working environment. But what does it actually look like and how do you help your team get there?
The whole point of having a team is to get the benefits of teamwork. This is where you are able to achieve greater results than you could achieve with just a group of individuals working in silos.
However, many organizations struggle to get their team to become a real team. You can’t just put a group of people in one room and call them a team - there is a lot of work that goes into building the right foundation and environment for them to thrive.
Agile values and principles can be a way to build great teams because the whole idea of Agile is to create collaborative environments of trust.
In this talk, I’ll share what makes (or breaks) a team and what you have to consider when building a team. You will learn how to use popular models like the Dunning-Kruger effect, Tuckman’s stages of group development, Shu-Ha-Ri maturity model to create a map and identify where your team is at and to start your path to high-performing teams.
